Create A Food Schedule

If you’re like me then you will have no real schedule on what and when you eat. You tend to eat when your feeling peckish and you find you’re eating extra because of it.

There is no need to worry, most people are like this. To change though, I will create a food schedule or diet plan if you want to call it that, for myself.

What Is A Food Schedule?

The name really gives away what this is. To break it down though, I am simply going to write times when I am allowed to eat and what I am allowed.

So, as an example it may go something like this:

  • 8 am - Drink a healthy breakfast smoothie
  • 10:30 am - Eat a piece of fruit - such as an apple
  • 12:30 pm - Eat lunch - either salad or healthy sandwich
  • 3 pm - Eat a piece of fruit
  • 6 pm - Eat dinner

The above is quite a simple food schedule, but you can see from this that I plan exact times I will eat and what I will be eating.

Why Create A Schedule

If you're open-minded like me then you will try many ideas to lose weight and get fit.

The idea with this schedule is simple. You are giving yourself permission to eat only at these times, and only the items on the list.

You can get more specific with the schedule, my final schedule may detail more on foods I can eat an lunch and dinner for example.

Whatever you put on your individual schedule, though, is what you're giving you permission to do. I will be giving myself permission to eat the specific type of food at the specified times only. Knowing the time will mean my brain will spend time counting down the time till I can eat rather than keep thinking ‘eat now’.

It’s all about taking control of your eating habits.

Create Your Own Schedule And Try It

Why not try it for yourself, it’s quite an easy task to accomplish. Just take a piece of paper and a pen, or create it in a spreadsheet if you would like.

Pick the foods you want to eat through the day and schedule the times you will eat. Then either keep it in your mind or print it out and place on your desk in front of you.

You’re telling your body and brain that it’s only acceptable to eat at those times. Like anything, it’s tricky to begin with because you are so used to eating when you want - but having it in writing means you’re committing to this schedule and that really does make it easier to follow.

Then come back and share your experience of doing this by writing a comment below. I look forward to reading everyone’s experience with this task.
